The Everest Base Camp trek, a very well-known mountain trek, starts from Lukla (2804m) and trek following the Dudh Koshi River valley, which climbs up to the Sherpa capital of Namche (3535m), a bustling Bazar that is a junction for trekkers, the local Sherpa and expedition groups to the Mount Everest.
All along this route, villages are interspersed with magnificent forests of rhododendron, magnolia and giant firs. In both the early autumn and late spring, the flowers on this portion of the trek make it the walk you will remember for a long time.
Mount Everest, Base Camp trek, is the most popular destination for trekkers in Nepal. Its popularity has grown since the first expedition to the Nepalese side of Everest in the 1950s. The trek takes off from Lukla. First, you will take 30 minutes morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and land at tiny Lukla Airport, and then your trek starts in Khumbu Region.
The trek leads to the Dudh Kosi valley route with a climb up to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazar. From Namche, you will trek along a heightened path from where you will witness the first good view of Everest. Next, you head towards Tyangboche Monastery, located on the mountain ridge.
To reach the Base Camp, you will trek through the glacier that takes you first to Lobuche and then to Ghorak Shep, where you will finally reach your destination- Everest Base Camp, at the foot of the Khumbu ice falls.
